The New York City Council awarded Samaritan Daytop Village’s Veterans Programs several grants totaling $96,000. Each of the awards were funded through the Mental Health Services for Veterans Initiative.
NYC Council groups that sponsored the grant awards were the:
With the funds, Samaritan Daytop Village will enhance its Veteran Sober Engagement program, which introduces veteran clients to sober activities and hobbies that promote wellness and community.

The funding will also make it possible to continue hosting the programs’ annual Family Day picnics and events. Family Day offers clients a fun and engaging setting to share their success in treatment with their families.

Additionally, a portion of the grants will be used for another of the Veterans Programs’ most beloved trips – the annual pilgrimage to Washington, DC. During the trip, clients and staff visit national military monuments and parks. The activity is a cathartic moment for the vets in treatment, especially those who served in battle or during peacekeeping missions.

The Veterans Programs at Samaritan Daytop Village offer substance use and mental health treatment services and have partnerships with elite institutions that provide specialized services to the clients.
All military veterans, regardless of discharge status, are eligible, as are referrals to Veterans Courts. To learn more, contact an Admissions Specialist at 855-322-4357 (HELP) or visit samaritanvillage.org/admissions.
