Our Daytop Preparatory Schools in Suffolk County and Rockland County offer an alternative education path for students with behavioral health needs. The private schools—approved and registered by the New York State Education Department—provide a supportive, structured environment in an academic setting.
Established in 2000, The Daytop Preparatory School provides a safe and focused learning environment for middle and high school students who are not thriving in traditional school settings because of behavioral health challenges.

We offer a staff with the academic and clinical expertise to serve students with substance use and behavioral health needs, as well as those requiring a temporary academic placement.
The Daytop Preparatory School also accepts students who are temporarily placed with us due to a suspension or expulsion, providing them with the educational support they need during difficult times.
Some families do not live within Blauvelt or Huntington Station. We can arrange for pick-up and drop-off through one of our school vehicles.
Daytop Preparatory Schools serves every student a free breakfast and lunch.
