The Link Between Nutrition and Recovery

Eating nutritious whole foods can transform a person’s physical and mental health — and support long-term recovery from substance use disorder.

News 12 “Be Well” host Kristie Reeter recently invited dietitian and nutritionist Dr. Elizabeth Madison, RD, to the studio to share some healthy recipes, nutritious meal ideas, and practical tips for recovery-focused eating.

Dr. Madison developed our Food as Medicine initiative for PARC (Peer Alliance Recovery Centers) in Queens and the Bronx, thanks to a generous grant from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation. The program helps people in recovery build the skills and knowledge needed to optimize their recovery through healthier food choices.
