Pioneering Addiction Treatment – For Veterans, By Veterans

Published on July 8, 2025

Veterans with substance use disorder have a treatment program – made for them – at Samaritan Daytop Village. We’re accepting referrals for men and women.

In 1996, Samaritan Daytop Village launched an exciting new treatment program that leveraged the unique culture, experiences, and communication styles of military veterans. It made a difference, saved lives, and broke the mold forever on how to treat veterans with addiction.

Since then, our Veterans Programs have grown, thanks to the work of referents like you. Now a beloved and nationally recognized program, our Veterans Programs offer gender-based residential facilities exclusively for veterans in Manhattan (men), Queens (men), and Ellenville (women).

Beds are available for military veterans, regardless of discharge status, who require intensive residential treatment for addiction and mental health disorders.
